The PLANET platform provides technical and scientific support for the development, optimization, and evaluation of processes for transforming and valorizing agro-resources. Its offering is based on process expertise and instrumented pilot-scale equipment, making it possible to carry out trials, studies, and collaborative projects.


Dry fractionation, separation, and sorting
The platform’s equipment dedicated to the dry refining of lignocellulosic biomass makes it possible to carry out operations at scales ranging from a few grams to several tens of kilograms. It enables the fractionation and separation of raw materials of very different sizes, from several centimetres down to a few micrometres. Different mechanical stresses can be applied depending on the desired objective: shear, impact, attrition, or abrasion.
Seed fractionation equipment also makes it possible to work at scales ranging from one kilogram to several hundred kilograms.
Examples of equipment: knife mill, pin mill, ball mill, hammer mill, jet mill, turbo-separator, electrostatic sorter, optical sorter, density table, pilot semolina mill, mills, dehuller.

Structuring and hydrothermal treatment
The treatment and structuring equipment makes it possible to reproduce unit transformation operations at scales ranging from a few grams to around ten kilograms. It is used to study and control the phenomena involved in processing operations, in particular structuring of the material, heat transfer, and the effects linked to hydration, drying, mixing, or compression.
Examples of equipment: co-rotating twin-screw extruder, heated press, injection press, mixer, single-screw extruder, inclined rotating drum, dryers.

Characterization of raw materials, powders obtained, and processed products
The characterization equipment is used to analyze raw materials, the powders obtained, and the products resulting from processing. It is used to measure or observe various physical and functional properties, such as size, shape, color, specific surface area, texture, moisture content, or ash content.
Examples of equipment: laser particle size analyzer, granulomorphometer, colorimeter, texture analyzer, wattmeter, torque sensors.

Design and maintenance workshop
The PLANET platform has a mechanical and electronic design workshop, as well as 3D printing capabilities, which support the maintenance, servicing, and design of experimental pilot units. This space makes it possible to adapt, repair, and upgrade equipment according to project needs, while also facilitating the development of custom solutions.
